Naples National Archaeological Museum at a glance
The Naples National Archaeological Museum, known as MANN, stands on Piazza Museo 18/19 in 80135 Naples. It can be part of a day around the Ipogeo dei Cristallini and the Sanità, and it has its own ticket, its own opening hours and its own rules.
In 2026 the full ticket costs EUR 20. The museum is open from 09:00 to 19:30, the ticket office closes at 18:30 and the rooms start to empty from 19:00. Tuesday is the weekly closing day. A temporary visitor entrance at the western portal is in use because of building works.

Our picks: Archaeological Museum tickets
The ticket with the audio app is for a free visit at your own pace; the guided tour with an archaeologist suits you better if you want the collections explained, and the small-group version adds a meeting point at the main entrance.
Hand-picked tours, booked through GetYourGuide and Viator. Prices are indicative starting prices in euros (as of October 2026). Tap a tour for live availability and the current price in your currency.

Gabinetto Segreto and the Alexander Mosaic
The Gabinetto Segreto and the whole mosaic collection are shut until 30 November 2026. Do not plan a visit around the Alexander Mosaic or the Gabinetto Segreto before December, and check the opening plan again before you travel. A closed room alone gives no right to a refund.
The Egyptian collection and Magna Grecia are closed on the general free days.

Naples museum and Pompeii: what you see here
If you plan a day trip to Pompeii or the Vesuvius area, the museum shows part of the story first. Frescoes, everyday objects from the Vesuvius area, Pompeii furnishings and a model of Pompeii are on view. Our day trips from Naples page explains how to get to the sites.
The Farnese sculptures and gems are also open now. For a short visit these rooms and the Pompeii material are a good core.
Ticket, audio app or guided tour
The tours above come in two main types. The right one depends on how much you want explained.
| Entry ticket with audio app | Guided tour | |
|---|---|---|
| Includes | Museum entry and a digital audio app for the city of Naples | Museum entry and a guide |
| Guide | No guided tour | Yes |
| Good for | Visitors who like to wander alone | First-timers who want the main rooms explained |
The audio app in the ticket describes the city of Naples, not specifically the museum. The museum's own audio guide costs EUR 5, reduced EUR 4, in German, English and Italian. For most first visits, the guided tour is the better choice, and the ticket-only option suits repeat visitors.
Planning your visit
- Metro: Museo station is on Line 1, Piazza Cavour station on Line 2. A single metro ride costs EUR 1.60 since 1 October 2026.
- Bags: large items and backpacks go into storage. Nothing above hand-luggage size is kept.
- Time: allow a morning or an afternoon. Put the museum on a different day from the Ipogeo if you can, as the two have separate tickets. See Ipogeo dei Cristallini tickets.
- Check first: some rooms rotate, so look at the opening plan on the day you travel.
The getting there page covers the airport, Alibus and the metro in more detail.
